The Bible makes it very clear that if we seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all, not some, not a little, but all these things will be added to you. This verse has always been hard for me to follow. One minute I lay everything at the cross, seeking God and his Kingdom with all my heart and the next minute I’m distracted by the next pretty thing. This is especially true in my love life. Never would I have thought I’d still be single at age 29. But, I am. And after all these years of dating, I’m still hung up about a guy who wasn’t right for me and haven’t really moved on. But the verse in Matthew really keeps ringing true in my ears. The way to get over this guy isn’t through food, another guy, television, Instagram, shopping or even working out. It’s by seeking God’s Kingdom. The world is shouting at us to have the nicest car, the cutest boyfriend, the most Instagram followers and the prettiest stuff. But God’s kingdom isn’t made of earthly things. God’s kingdom is love, mercy, peace, patience, forgiveness… So how can you move on? Seek God, ask Him to soften your heart. Ask Him to help you forgive. And ask Him to show you His Kingdom.
When we are walking with God, the things on earth don’t shine as bright. Even the longing of the boy we knew wasn’t right from the beginning. When we are truly seeking His kingdom we don’t have time to focus on getting over a guy. I dare you to fully give it to God. And watch what He does.
Our husbands are out there, but let’s focus on God’s Kingdom. He’ll do the rest.
