The Book of Ruth is a story and true account of a woman that discovers faith in God and chooses His path even though it wasn’t exactly the easiest path to follow. Her commitment to both the Lord and family was sincere and a beautiful example of faith. As we look at the characteristics Ruth possessed as she faced the unknown, we must also look at our own lives. When we feel as if we’ve been wronged and our commitment to a certain person or a certain task is in question, we must continue to be strong in the Lord and persevere, no matter how much we feel our anger or frustration is justified.
Never forget that even in the hardest times, God is not only there for you, but He is strengthening you day by day. He is peeling back the layers that you worked so hard to keep on just so you wouldn’t get hurt again. He is unpacking the doubts you’ve held onto because of the dysfunction in your childhood home or the pride you dealt with in your teen years. He is snipping away at the safety net that you’ve woven for yourself and is giving you a reason to trust Him once again. God wants to reveal Himself to you and strengthen you in the process. However, like Ruth, you have to be willing. You have to be willing to commit to your faith even though it feels like the ground is shaking beneath you. Don’t back away or give up. Keep your commitment to the Lord.
