2 Corinthians 3:4-5
D A I L Y D E V O
Sometimes it’s easy to feel like the world has gone mad and we, alone, are the only ones trying to live out God’s Word. Everywhere we look, we see people living for themselves, whether it’s on the news, on social media, and even, sadly, in the church. Sinful living is justified all around us, and it can seem like it’s all we can do to press on and avoid temptation. We might even ask ourselves if we’re really equipped to handle it all.
We feel alone. We can get battle-weary and disillusioned. Sometimes we might even feel like throwing in the towel and just joining in on the world’s idea of fun. But we are not alone! God is with us and He has given us His Holy Spirit. Through Him we can be victorious over the world and its temptations. We don’t have be lured in by the promises of love and material pleasures, which is really just lust and greed in disguise. We can wait for God’s best when it comes to love and blessings.
Yet, sometimes we might even feel we are failing as Christians because we go through trials. Maybe we even feel like God has abandoned us, but that is far from the truth. Jesus told us we’d face trials. In John 16:33 Jesus says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Do you feel confident in your abilities to face life on your own? You don’t have to! You have the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit on your side! So we can be confident before God, though Christ, even through trials, even through temptations. We can do anything God has purposed us to do. We can face life with confidence because we are never alone.
