1 Corinthians 7:25-40
Sometimes friendships can be so complicated, but we are not alone! When we look at the story of the prodigal son, we see a very stark picture of trouble with friends. When everything was going good and there was fun to be had, he had friends in abundance. However as soon as times got tough and the money ran out, he was all on his own.
The same can be true for each of us in life today. I don’t know about you but there have been times where I have invested in friendships only to find when I faced difficulties they were nowhere to be seen! God created us for relationship. Relatioship with God, but also relationships with others. Friendships are important to God and we must intentionally pursue Godly friendships with our sisters in Christ.
I am so blessed to have some wonderful Godly girlfriends who have stuck with me through thick and thin. But, unfortunately, it hasn’t always been that way. I remember going through some of my darkest days and finding that some of those I considered my closest friends had simply given up on me and were nowhere to be found!
When we pursue the desire for Godly friendships, we will be blessed in many ways. A Godly girlfriend will rejoice in good times, comfort in tough times, teach and even rebuke in the wayward times and walk alongside you in the blind times.
This morning pray that God will reveal to you those relationships you should invest in, but furthermore, ask God to show you how you can be a better friend to someone else.
Your sister in Christ,
