Day 19 – There is plenty of room for us to serve and honor God with the gifts and callings He has given us.
1 Corinthians 12:1-13
As a believer, you are a part of the body of Christ. But it’s important to remember that even though we have the same goals, that doesn’t mean that we all have the same roles.
Sometimes it’s so easy to get so focused on what WE have been called to do and how WE want God to use us that we start to forget that we are a part of a unit and God is using each of us. So don’t be discouraged when you see others doing what you feel like you were called to do. That doesn’t mean that there’s no room within the body for you. God will prepare your heart to be ready and take advantage of every opportunity He has given you, so remember that you’re not in this alone. You’re a part of a unit – the body of Christ! God placed in each of us special gifts that are to serve and give honor to Him. The body of Christ cannot function without everyone working together. We can work together even though some may have been blessed with the same gift and calling. Our gift and calling is especially unique to us.
Our character, life experiences, and our personal relationship with Christ help to shape and mold that calling. There is room for everyone to work within the body. Many times Christ will use someone with the same calling and gift to help someone else that may be struggling or stuck. That’s the beauty of the whole thing! When we keep our minds fixed on Christ and the greater work to be done in the kingdom we in turn diffuse emotions of jealousy and discouragement. Don’t allow bitterness, jealousy, or discouragement to settle in your heart. Those things tear the body apart! Let’s lift up one another, pray for each other, speak words of encouragement to one another, let’s teach each other, and applaud each other! There is plenty of room for us to serve and honor God with the gifts and callings He has given us.
