Why do we find ourselves constantly desiring to be and do exactly what everyone else is and does? God put so much thought and care into making each one of us a unique and precious individual creation, and the first thing we do is go off feeling like we have to do everything our friends do in the same season of life that they do it.
Here are three things that every woman who feels like she doesn’t fit in with those around her needs to remember:
1. Not everyone was made to accomplish the same things at the same age. College. Relationships. Marriage. Babies. Life’s milestones approach us all at different times and in unique ways because we aren’t video-game characters with a set course in front of us and a pre-determined lifespan. And that’s a good thing. Humans are much more interesting than video-game characters.
2. All of our heroes from the Bible? Daniel, Esther, Peter, David, Jesus Himself. They stuck out from the crowd around them in vivid and scary ways. They didn’t let the tide of public opinion sway them from doing exactly what their faith told them was right. They were different from those around them and they used that difference to accomplish the work God had given them to do.
3. God made you. Choose to surrender your life and your plans to your Maker because He’s the One who loves every bit of your individuality.
