Day 21 – Choose not to live with expectations and for attention. Rather, seek to be a bold extender of God’s great love for His people.
As Kingdom builders, we struggle so much with having to be acknowledged by the world for the things we are doing to help bring God’s mission to life. Everyone wants it- a Facebook or Instagram like, a pat on the back, and etc. We claim to live for God but we seek attention from His people when we do things for the Kingdom. How skewed our understanding and desires are for a time such as this.
Truth be told, you don’t need the attention. If you struggle with seeking to please God all while craving a pat on the back for your service by the world, it’s time to evaluate the motives are your heart. Are you really doing this for God, or to feel good about yourself? Jesus didn’t want attention for what He did, so why do you?
God desires for us to love with ALL of our heart, soul and mind so that we can get to a place that instills within our hearts a deep love for His people; so that when we do something for someone and they don’t say thank you, we don’t get mad at them for not acknowledging something we did as a reflection of Christ’s love. Whether or not it shows, you leave impacts on people in ways you can’t even understand. Not because of what you do, but because of what God does through you as an extender of His love.
There are no ‘off’ days when it comes to loving the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul and mind. This is who you are. When you live with the understanding of all this truth entails, you no longer crave attention from people because you know that human beings can’t satisfy like God can; because you know that regardless of whether or not someone acknowledges you for something you did, God sees you and the true motives of your heart.
Choose not to live with expectations and for attention. Rather, seek to be a bold extender of God’s great love for His people. Seek to make yourself available to God on a daily basis so that He can use you to be a selfless life-giver and a humble Kingdom changer.
Choose to seek impact. Not attention.
