There’s nothing inherently wrong with things like working hard to get into shape or making an effort to look really nice before you leave the house in the morning, but never let this be the source of your confidence. If you feel good and are confident about the way you look, be encouraged in knowing this: there is so much more to you than what meets the eye, and never let anyone try to tell you otherwise.
Perhaps you found that you:
- Get more compliments when you wear your hair a certain way
- Get more likes on Instagram when you post a certain kind of photo
- Get more views on your SnapChat story when you look a certain way or talk about certain things
- Get more people looking at you when you’re wearing a certain type of clothing or a certain amount of makeup
Again, there is a way to make an effort to look really nice and also bring glory to God. However, never let how others might potentially see you or react to you be the reason you post certain things on social media or dress a certain way.
Always be in a place where at the end of the day, when no one else is around and you’re staring at your reflection in the mirror, you can feel good about who you are because you know that you were fearfully and wonderfully made by God and you don’t need any guy or any of your friends or even family members to validate that in order for it to be true.
