Our relationships can reflect who we are in Christ Jesus. Even the kind of friends we keep, the places we go to, the movies we watch, and the books and magazines we read affect who we are. And as the Apostle Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 10:23:
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.”
As a daughter of God, some things may be lawful but they are not beneficial to you, neither do they edify you. This is also true when it comes to who you choose to be in a relationship with. He may be nice and gentle but does that relationship edify your relationship with Jesus? What kind of conversations do you two have? When there is a challenge, who does he look up to?
If you are dating a man who is not in love with God, it means he cannot hear God. Today’s reading reminds us of what Jesus said:
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
How can a man who doesn’t know the voice of Jesus follow him?
When you live your life to glorify God, you would look beyond your feelings for him and look at his relationship with Jesus!
1 Corinthians 10:18-33
