1 Timothy 4:8
D A I L Y D E V O
We can mentally prepare ourselves for big tasks at work or school, we can turn on the right playlist when we’re headed to work or headed to the gym, and we can print out inspirational quotes and pin them up around our house, but until we make a decision to live a life that is in pursuit of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we will continue to search for security and validation in anything and anyone. Only Jesus is going to keep our hearts and our minds strong. It doesn’t matter how much time we spend at the gym, or reading self-help books, or trying to make ourselves forget about our past; until we turn to a life that brings glory to God, our hearts will continue to wander.
As we come toward the end of this month’s study, let us continue to remember that we cannot depend on our own abilities to prepare for this life, or the life to come. It is only the life that we live for Christ that will carry us through. As rewarding as a great marriage or home life might be, and as fulfilling as a great career or education might be, only what Jesus offers will give us the confidence to make it through each day.
So from the moments when you feel like you’re on top of your game and you’re doing everything you’re supposed to do, to the moments you’re in the valley and you have absolutely no idea where to turn, continue to find value in a Godly life that is in constant pursuit of Jesus Christ!
This is what we’re training for! This is what adds value to our lives more than anything else.
