(Part 1 of 3) For followers of Christ, even our self-confidence should be deeply rooted in our identity in Christ. At times it can be tempting to think of yourself or what you’re dealing with like this: “Yes, I trust God and I have confidence that He’ll take care of me but I still don’t feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be in life.”
The truth is, if you believe that your relationship with Jesus is the most important part of your life, then it’s all connected. The way you think of yourself, your career, your relationships, your dreams and desires, or anything else still has to be centered in Christ. Today’s passage reminds us that we are God’s handiwork. God uses His children to do good works. He allows us to be a part of the work He is doing here on this earth. Even when you’re just volunteering at church or praying for your friends, you are a part of that handiwork! You are a part of what He is doing in your very city.
This is why it’s all the more important that your confidence as a woman is rooted in Him. You have to let Jesus be the One who keeps your feet firmly planted on the ground when you:
- Don’t feel like you can keep being gentle and patient with that coworker who gives you a hard time.
- Don’t feel like you’re getting noticed for all of the hard work you’re putting in.
- Are faced with tons of work and you have no time to get it done, let alone make time for others.
Your relationship with Jesus is what’s going to give you that strength! Continue to keep Him at the center of everything in your life, including your confidence.
