Trusting in the Lord with all of your heart means not depending on yourself or anyone else when it comes to anything in your life, big or small. Often times, as much as it may seem like we have the power or the ability to control certain areas or situations in your life, God is truly the One who is in control. Yes, it is true that we have free will, but if we’re honest, how many times has our free will led us to a place where we didn’t want to go? How many times have we made decisions that we thought were right, only to find that they led to destruction?
This is why it’s important to trust the Lord with every single step. We live in a world where instant gratification is widely accepted. When you break something, you just go buy a new one. When you want a new look, you can do anything from changing your makeup products to surgically altering your facial features. If you want a new relationship, just leave your boyfriend or your husband and go get a new one. So often times, we think we know exactly what we want and we spend all this time searching for something that will make us feel more complete, only to be left with even more unanswered questions than we had before. We put so much pressure on ourselves to create the lives we want, when really, what we should be wanting is for God to lead us. Hasn’t He always been there? Isn’t He the One who places the sun in the sky day after day, providing us with food to eat and clothing to wear? Isn’t what He provides all we really need?
There’s nothing inherently wrong with trying out a new hair color or moving to a new city, but if you’re doing it because you’re looking for that satisfaction and that peace about where you are right now and where your life is headed, you won’t find it out in the world somewhere. It all begins with trusting in the Lord for any gratification or satisfaction your heart desires. You don’t need a new boyfriend or a new job in order to start believing that trusting in God is worth it. It is worth it to trust in Him in every area of your life on this very day, for He is the One who knows your future and lays out the path before you.
