From this moment and all the way to your wedding day and everyday beyond, keep on pursuing God with all of your relationship goals.
From this moment and all the way to your wedding day and everyday beyond, keep on pursuing God with all of your relationship goals. What He has to offer is far greater than anything you could ever come up with on your own.
And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
– John 14:13-14
- Through Jesus Christ, you can speak directly to God even when it comes to your relationship goals. Far too many people get so focused on talking to their friends about their relationship goals, posting them on social media, or observing what other couples do that they forget to ask God, “God, what is that you have for me? What is the kind of relationship that you have for me?” Don’t be afraid to pray specifically. God already knows about the things you worry about when it comes to dating, marriage, sex–whatever it is–you cannot be afraid to go to God.
- Go to God before you go to anyone else. There is nothing wrong with seeking wise counsel from mentors, church leaders, parents, of friends, but we have to know that God comes first! No matter what great advice we get from others (even ministries like this!) it is He that knows exactly what He has for you…but He wants you trust Him and through Jesus Christ, He wants you to go to Him.
- Be specific in your prayers about your relationship goals. When you pray, you are getting closer and closer to God. Through Jesus Christ, you are inviting Him into your heart and into your life–even the small details like, how you felt after going on a date with that guy or why you keep thinking about that ambiguous text message he sent you or what he posted on social media. When you find yourself thinking on these things, go to God! Be specific! Don’t be afraid to ask Him questions. Don’t be afraid to thank Him for those moments where you didn’t get upset or overanalyze like you thought you would. Don’t be afraid to thank Him for His presence. God wants to do a work in your life and He is not far away. He is right there with you and He wants you to talk to Him tonight, tomorrow, next year, on your wedding day…go to Him.
