Keep looking for the future and the plans you know God has for you, but don’t forget to make the place you’re at amazing.
Do you ever feel stuck in a place you don’t want to be? You know true success isn’t based on your job, education, or how much money you have, but you still desire more. You know you’re capable of more. At times it feels as if your life is being held captive by circumstances around you. You may also wonder if it’s really ok to dream of more. Does God really have something big for you to do?
God promises He has good plans for you, and when you seek Him with all your heart, you will find Him. What do you do while you wait for those plans to come to pass?
In Jeremiah 29 it’s easy to skip to the part where God promises a good future. We forget the people of Israel were being held captive for 70 years. God gave them specific things to do while they were in a time of waiting. One seemingly odd instruction was to work so the country holding them captive would prosper. That was probably the last thing on their minds, but it made sense. If their environment thrived, they would thrive.
If you feel stuck and held captive, look around and see what you can do to change the environment. Are there things you can do to make your school or workplace better? Maybe it’s by being the one who encourages the people around her. Look for opportunities to serve that may go unnoticed. Did someone leave their sandwich in the refrigerator until it became penicillin? Instead of seeing if it will grow eyes, toss it in the garbage and out of site. Be the woman who walks with her head held high knowing she doesn’t have to wait in order to make a big impact. As you change the world you live in, you’ll begin to change. You’ll grow and thrive in your heart. Keep looking for the future and the plans you know God has for you, but don’t forget to make the place you’re at amazing. You were born to do great things in every stage of your life.
