Last March 31, 2016, thousands of Filipinos were saddened when they heard the news that Caitlin Soleil Lucas, also known as #courageouscaitie passed away after battling a rare form of Leukemia. She was only three years old but despite her situation, she was able to be strong. At her very young age, she was able to inspire, declare and proclaim the love of Jesus to thousands of people.
What does it mean to be courageous? It means: “not deterred by danger or pain ; brave.” Does it mean you have to be physically strong enough to be courageous? No.
In Deuteronomy 31:23, the Lord commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous. The Lord didn’t just commanded him, but in addition, He promised that He will be with them.
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”
– Hebrews 10:23
Israelites’ journey wasn’t easy. In fact, it took them 40 years to reach the Promised Land from the original plan of 40 days. Though they are known to be disobedient, God still chose this nation to show how great is His love for us. Though there are times of great discouragements, God will always provide a way to lift them up. Sometimes being courageous might be an opportunity to something bigger that God has prepared for you. It might be reporting in a class or your first day in office perhaps your first time to accept a deal or you might not skilled enough to finish a specific task. Whatever it is, whenever we feared something God has commanded you to do, we might lose the opportunity to experience His greatness.
Caiti died, but left an encouragement to many because of her courageous act. Israelites took 40 years in their journey but they didn’t give up until they reached the Promised Land.
Have courage, beloved. Even if you have a support team or not, God is always with you. Trust Him and His promises and surely He will amaze you of what He can do in your life!
