Have you ever been downhearted in wanting to share God’s word with a family member, but she’s just not interested? Have you ever been frustrated in desiring to help a friend bring back their passion to the Lord, but she just kept on rejecting you? Have you ever been disappointed in trying to change a church friend’s way to realign it with God’s way?
Be encouraged today that we should never give up on people; however, we do not have the power to change them. As daughters of God, we are called to love. To love means to choose to forgive them, even after they have rejected us with their actions or their words. To love means to choose to keep on encouraging them, even when they have grown cold in their relationships with the Lord. Just continue to choose to love.
While it is indeed a burden to see them far from God, we can only do so much to help. We can encourage them and empathize with them. We can assure them we will be there no matter what they are going through. We can listen and suggest ways to help them out, but remember only the Lord can change them.
Rely today on knowing only Jesus can turn their hearts around. Only Jesus can cut through the calluses of their hearts, (Deut 30:6) and give them a heart that knows Him and hears Him. Hold on to the truth that God will go out and search for His lost sheep. (Matthew 18:12-14) Be in faith today if we pray for a person’s change of heart, God hears and listens. He is the only one who can make their hearts turn to Him. After all, is there anything too hard for the Lord? (Jeremiah 32:27)
