Luke 11:34 talks about your eye being the lamp to your body which determines if your body is healthy and full of light. You might be watching your friends on social media get married, starting a family, getting their dream jobs or traveling all over the globe. And you wonder when is your turn to experience your heart’s desires or why does it seem like you are not living the life that makes you look as happy as they are. What you see everyday reflects upon what happens within your body, spiritually and physically.
Be careful, my sister, with what you visually consume everyday especially on social media. Guard your heart, for everything flows from it (Prov 4:23). Make a conscious effort to consume things that uplift you and the light within you.
Do not be afraid or feel bad if you have to take some time off social media to evaluate your position with God. It does not make you weak or insecure, rather it makes you bold and strong to face your discontent and taking it to God. Sometimes, the things that are meant to be harmless can cause the light within you to fade. Your greatest victories come from your most vulnerable moments. Be transparent with your Father about your feelings and He will send the Holy Spirit to comfort and counsel you. Things might not be what they seem right now, but God placed you where you are for a reason. So pray in faith knowing fully that God will never forsake you or your dreams.
